Currency Trading Information: Your FX Trading Plan

Posted by TFNG Admin On January - 14 - 2010

Perhaps the most important piece of currency trading knowledge that you should have is how to put a fx trading plan together. Without one you will struggle big time. Without your forex route map you will get completely lost and having one will mean the difference between success and failure.

Remember that the majority of traders beginning out in forex trading lose money, so it is crucial to carry out everything you can to make certain that you are one of the profitable ones. Having a strategy will provide you a good start over most traders who simply start trading with no aim of where they are heading.

Having a potentially profitable plan is important and you can acquire many of them out there. Most traders think that the trading system is the one thing that matters and use up all of their time searching for the flawless system that is guaranteed to make money for anyone. But no such trading system exists. Although there are a bunch of fine systems, no system will be successful without a trading plan that is tailored to the specific trader.

This means that you need to figure out your trading plan for yourself. Do not be alarmed however for the reason that it is quite straightforward. Your plan just needs to include three things:

1. Lot size

This can be measured in the number of positions that you will take on every single trade. It may vary according to the strength of your signals or it can be the same for each trade, but it ought to be clearly set out. Do not vary your lot size according to intuition, and do not vary it according to whether your earlier trade was winning or not.

When you are deciding on your lot size, you must also consider your gearing and what proportion of your total funds will be committed to a trade. This forms part of your RMP (risk management plan)and it is crucial to your forex trading knowledge that it is always to hand.

2. Stop losses

Your strategy ought to include a stop loss, measured in terms of pips. Again you should consider the risks that are being taken as a proportionate amount of your trading funds. In most cases you should target for a risk of around 2% for each trade. However, with selected systems or if you have a very low initial pot, you might want to go higher than that to prevent your stop loss being triggered too often. Just be wary that if you do that, you have a greater danger of going bust.

3. Level of Profit

You ought to also settle on the exit position for a winning trade, i.e. how many pips you are aiming to take. If you do not settle on this you will often be tempted to hold out as long as possible, praying that the trend will keep going your way. Often times you will be caught out by a unexpected reversal and a profitable trade can be turned into a loss. So it is very key to decide ahead of time how much profit you will take.

Once you have your strategy, it is crucial to keep to it consistently. Resist the temptation to start a trade when the signs are not correct, or to follow your gut instinct at all, that’s at least until you have got the experience of many years trading behind you. Also, reduce interruptions whilst you are trading. This will help you to get out of making foolish mistakes and keep you concentrated so that you can make the best of all of the forex trading information that you have acquired.

Weird Video: Forex “Failure Formula”, Are You Guilty?

Posted by TFNG Admin On January - 13 - 2010

If you’re still losing money trading Forex, there’s a very good chance it’s because you’re “guilty” of following at least one part of the Forex “Failure Formula”.

Here’s a hint:

I????????? Method +
No ???k M????????? +
F?????????? Analysis +
T??? = POOR

Can you guess what the components are?

It’s based on years of observation & research into what separates the losing traders from the ones that consistently have an edge in the markets…

-and if you trade with ALL 4 parts of the formula, whether intentional or not, then failure is a near certainty.

But these 4 “sins” are easy to avoid once you understand the “formula”.

Importance of Forex Education

Posted by TFNG Admin On January - 13 - 2010

I have been really surprised by the ignorance that is shown by the various traders. They buy some of the cheap online trading robots to trading on their behalf. Some of these robots succeed while most of them have failed. This is because of the fact that these robots have been simulated to do trading in backward trend. There has been a lack of forex education among the traders. Traders use these robots and in their garb they miss out on the strategies that are available free in the market. These strategies have been successfully used by the traders and have stood the tests of time.

As far as the forex education is concerned you can learn by using the many strategies like the one given by Richard Dennis. In this strategy he gave a plan to the group of trainees and they made millions out of it. This strategy is known as the turtle rules. The newbie’s were told to have confidence in this strategy and the result that the group gave after two weeks of trading was beyond anyone’s imagination. Over a period of 4 years the same group made money to the amount of $200 million and afterwards the strategy has been a part of the forex folklore.

This strategy is still available on the internet and is free of cost. But its effectiveness has been reduced due to the ever changing parameters of the market and its increasing volatility. This strategy is very easy to understand and once you have read it you will get to know what a standard strategy should be like. The money management rules of this strategy are excellent and have been admired by the various trade market bigwigs. In this strategy you are bound to loose out more trades than you are going to win but the wins will be more heavier than the losses leading to staggering benefits, which should be the aim of market strategy. A little forex education about the market strategies can do a lot of good for your trading business.

Forex Trading System – A One Rule System For Huge Gains

Posted by TFNG Admin On January - 13 - 2010

FOREX trading systems are big business now as the internet allows anyone to use one and make big profits.

The question traders need answered is – what do they look for when they buy a FOREX trading system to locate the good FOREX systems from the losing majority?

This article will give clear, concise, tips for picking a FOREX trading for huge profits and how to construct your own one for FREE!

Right, lets get started and look at getting FOREX trading systems with the potential to make huge gains.

Choosing a system from a vendor

Many traders choose to buy a FOREX trading system ready made and ready to go. Just plug it in and huge profits come quickly. Well that’s the theory, the reality is different. There are good FOREX trading systems out there but you need to pick wisely, here are some tips.

1. Don’t buy a system that promises 80% accuracy and has little or no drawdown.

We all know this is not true, as we all know drawdown is part of trading a FOREX trading system. These systems always come with hypothetical track records and of course, we can all trade with low drawdown when we know what happened in the past.

2. Look for a system where the rules are revealed

You need to understand the logic before trading.

This is essential as if you don’t understand the logic you won’t have the confidence to trade it with discipline. Avoid black box systems only trade a FOREX system you understand.

3. Look FOREX trading systems that are simple.

They should only contain a few rules or parameters.

It’s a fact that simple systems work best and not ones that are complicated. All the worlds top trading systems are simple!

4. Look for a FOREX trading systems that trades ALL markets with the same rules.

One of the biggest errors traders make is falling for systems that have “unique” rules to trade different markets.

What this basically means is that the vendor cannot get the system to work on the market, so its “curve fitted” i.e. the rules fit the data in hindsight.

Never consider a system that does this!

5. Look for long term trading system

There is a huge market selling short term and day trading systems, but fact is they don’t work as well as long term trend following FOREX trading systems.

6. Get verification

While past performance is no guarantee of future performance some evidence of the system trading successfully by the vendor is a must. Let’s face it, if the vendor is not confident enough to invest his money why should you?

An alternative build your own

You can of course, buy a FOREX trading system and the above will help you locate the good ones, but today it’s pretty easy to build your own.

Perhaps the best method is a breakout method (it’s easy to understand and apply) and is described in our other articles. Simply combine it with some oscillators and your all set.

Many trading packages will let you apply your own rules and test them with realistic slippage and commission.

A FOREX trading system you have and understand yourself gives you a huge advantage, as you will be able to apply it with confidence and discipline which you will need to stay with a system, through periods of drawdown.

If you buy a FOREX system or make your own we hope you find the above tips useful.

Forex And Day Trading

Posted by TFNG Admin On January - 13 - 2010

Online trading is great way for serious investors to make money, but inexperienced traders often wind up with big losses. A good set of instructions can minimize the risks and save months of expensive trial-and-error learning.

Day Trading

Day Trading had its heyday during the bull market of the 1990’s. All the amateurs have since dropped out, but day trading is still being practiced by professionals. There are fewer opportunities in the current market, but skilled investors can still find them if they know what to look for.

FOREX Trading

The Foreign Exchange Market (FOREX), the world’s largest financial exchange market, originated in 1973. It has a daily turnover of currency worth more than $1.2 trillion dollars.

Unlike many other securities, FOREX does not trade on a fixed exchange rate; instead, currencies are traded primarily between central banks, commercial banks, various non-banking international corporations, hedge funds, personal investors and not to forget, speculators. Previously, smaller investors were excluded from FOREX due to the huge amount of deposit involved. This was changed in 1995, and now smaller investors can trade alongside the multi-nationals. As a result, the number of traders within the FOREX market has grown rapidly, and many FOREX courses are appearing to help individual traders increase their skills. As a matter of fact, it’s advisable to take FOREX training even before opening a trading account.

It is vital to know the market mechanics of FOREX, leveraging in FOREX, rollovers and the analysis of the FOREX market. Due to this fact, potential FOREX traders would do well to either enroll in a FOREX training courses or even purchase some books regarding FOREX trading.

There are pros and cons to enrolling into a FOREX course. For beginners a FOREX course is a rapid method of learning the basics of FOREX trading. Not much time is spent on history of the market or arcane economic theories. Often, on-line or phone support from a skilled FOREX trader is available to answer any questions. Also, the information is condensed and practical, often with graphs and charts.

The disadvantage is the price, as courses are more expensive than a paperback from the bookstore. Also, the course may just teach the approach of the trader who wrote it, and individuals have different trading strategies. The student may grow accustomed to the logic and focus of the teacher without coming to realise that nothing is predictable in the FOREX market, and many different strategies will bring profits in varying market circumstances. Also, knowledge of practical applications may not be enough, as the FOREX is highly unpredictable and there are many external factors, such as political issues, affecting the flow of finances in the market.

The best advice would be to do some background research on the FOREX market first, and then enroll in a course.

Why Should You Trade Online On Foreign Exchange?

Posted by TFNG Admin On January - 11 - 2010

Here are some major reasons why Foreign Exchange is a good market in which to do trades:

Low Costs For Investments

One very good thing about trading Forex online is that there are very minimal costs that a party has to undertake. Because there are no middlemen involved and one can easily do direct trades with the market responsible for the pricing of currencies, this means that there are no more commissions that you have to pay.

In Forex trading, there are no clearing fees, government fees or brokerage fees that you have to take care of because brokers in this market are compensated for their services through a bid-ask spread.

There are also very low costs for each transaction. And each bid or ask spread is usually only less than 0.1 percent when there are normal market conditions. For larger dealers, the least you can pay is only as low as .07 percent.

The Market Is Open For 24 Hours

Another factor why so many people find the Forex trade very convenient is the fact that it never sleeps. It is open for 24 hours a day from Sunday in the evening to Friday afternoon EST, and therefore people do not have to wait for the opening bell.

This can be very practical especially for those who only trade part-time because they can at least do business whenever they are free –in the morning, noon or at night.

High Leverage

In Forex trading, even a small margin deposit can be able to control a larger value for total contract. Through this leverage, the trader can make a lot of profit, while keeping minimal risks.

A good example for this is when brokers in the Foreign Exchange offer a 200 to 1 leverage, because with a 50-dollar margin deposit, a trader could buy or sell 10,000 dollars worth of currencies.

But take note that without proper risk management, there is a huge chance for you to experience significant losses along with gains.

High Liquidity

Due to the fact that the Forex industry is the largest market today and because so many parties have gotten involved in it, liquidity has become quite prevalent in this market.

It is very unlikely that you can ever get stuck in a Forex trade. Under normal market conditions, one can easily do trades at will with just a simple click of the mouse. And in fact, in Forex trading, you can have more freedom to automatically close your position when you have reached your aimed profit level just by setting your online trading platform.

There are many advantages in doing Foreign Exchange trades online. In many ways, it proves to be a very practical arena, but the promises for huge profits are never compromised.

There is no wonder why this market has become so popular and huge. And so, if you are interested in investing, with a little hard work and exposure, then the Forex market can surely be a good place to start.

Advanced Retail Forex Currency Trading

Posted by TFNG Admin On January - 11 - 2010

If you are not working with a large bank, investment firm, or government agency, then your participation in the online foreign exchange market will be at the retail level. As a retail forex trader, you will work with a forex broker or market maker and you will likely be given the opportunity to trade with a much larger amount of money than the actual trading capital in your account. This is called trading on leverage, and with a typical leverage ratio of 100:1 this means that with $1,000 worth of trading capital you can control a trading position of $100,000.

Most of the people in the world do not speculate in the foreign exchange market, and the extent of their foreign exchange transactions occur when they travel to a foreign country or perhaps purchase international real estate. When you are dealing with foreign exchange on this level then you are likely going to be concerned with the exchange rate up to the cents position, or second decimal place. However when you look at most forex trading software platforms you will see the exchange rates quoted to the hundredth of a penny position, or the fourth decimal place. A fluctuation of this amount is called a pip, so a change of 100 pips would mean one penny as far as the foreign traveller is concerned.

A difference of under a penny might not matter to the foreign traveller, but when you are trading hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars then these small changes will really add up. A standard lot on a typical retail forex trading platform will be $100,000, and with a trade of this size a single pip fluctuation would be worth $10. This means that if you could capture 100 pips of price movement on an open position, or 1 penny worth of difference in the exchange rate, then you would have earned $1,000 on your open trade or doubled the size of the trading capital for that specific trade. From these numbers you can see that trading with leverage makes a very big difference to your bottom line profits, and can allow you to increase or decrease your account balance rapidly.

Many forex brokers promote the fact that they offer commission free trading, but this does not mean that it is actually completely free to place trades. The broker still earns a commission when you trade, but instead of a direct commission they will create a difference between the price that you can buy a currency at and the price that they will sell it to you at. This price difference is called the spread, and you will find that more popular currency pairs have smaller price spreads than the more exotic and less traded currency pairs.

Forex Trading Market: Learning About the Market

Posted by TFNG Admin On January - 8 - 2010

You can never hide the fact that people need money. Money buys everything you need to live a comfortable life. You use it to purchase your everyday food, clothes to keep you warm, fuel for your car, and you use it to pay for bills.

Money is necessary in order for you to provide a comfortable life for your family. This is why you work, and this is why people put up businesses. It is true that earning money can be difficult for the average person. However, it is way better than depending on the government to provide you with food.

People have ambitions that requires hard work. Depending on welfare alone can never make your dreams come true.

If you are a regular person, who earns a decent salary but still wants to earn extra cash in order for you to afford that dream vacation you saw in a TV ad or perhaps buy that huge TV you have always wanted, you should consider investing your savings.

Investing your savings can only mean two things. Either you can make it grow, or lose it all. It may have some risks but if you do it right, you can really make a lot of money and afford those things you never thought you can ever have.

One great way to invest your money in is by investing it in the largest, most liquid financial market in the world. This kind of market is called the Forex market. In this market, you simply have to buy and sell currencies of the world with hopes of making a profit. The point of all this is that you have to buy low and sell high in order to make a profit out of your investment. Here’s a clearer explanation on what traders do in the Forex market. For example, when a trader purchases a particular currency at a cheap price, the trader will expect the value to rise. Once the value of the particular currency he or she sells rises as expected, you can sell it at a much higher price, hence, getting your investment back together with the profit.

Trading in Forex will require you to trade in pairs. Because you purchase currency, you sell another at the same time. There are a lot of currency pairs in the Forex market. However, the most commonly traded currency pairs in the Forex market are: USD/GBP, USD/JPY, USD/CHF, and GBP/USD. These four are the most popular currency pairs traded in the Forex market and where people are more likely to gain income.

Although trading in the Forex market can really give you the chance of earning a lot of money, it is also a fact that you can also lose a lot of money. This is because Forex is traded on margin. For example, with a 1 percent margin, your 1000 dollars can give you leverage of 1000 dollars. This means that your rate of return will be 100 percent of each percentage change upwards. However, your loss will also be equally great if the market conditions went against you.

This is why you have to have the proper skills and knowledge about the Forex market before you begin to trade. Also, you need to understand that when you invest in this market, make sure you can afford to lose what you invest. This is not necessarily attractive but if you want to make money, you also have to be prepared to lose money.

If you are an inexperienced Forex trader, you should consider hiring a Forex broker and analysts to guide you in your money-making venture. You can also consider opening a dummy account or taking a Forex trading course in your local business school or in online schools.

Knowing the basics in Forex trading can be very beneficial. So, try and look for some time where you can practice your trading skills and strategies in dummy accounts or attending Forex trading courses.

These are the things you should know about Forex trading and the Forex market. If you want to go and earn that money you need for whatever reasons, try investing in the Forex market. If you do it right, you can be sure that you can earn a lot of money through Forex trading.

Always remember that on whatever things you invest in, whether it would be a business or in the world’s largest financial market, you should always consider that there would always be risks involved.
